Circuit Board Waste |
Now a days e-waste is becoming a big environmental issue. With each year passing comes a new electronic device. Most old are discarded in the trash to sit in landfills, but those device which are recyled responsibly are also a headache. The PCB used in electronic devices consists of reinforced epoxy glass and solder, which are a pain to dismantle safely.
Recently, a British company have developed a new type of adhesive that could replace soldering and could make circuit boards 90% recyclable. Just apply some water and you're done! This tech is called ReUse which stands for Reusable, Unzippable, Sustainable Electronics.
ReUse is based on a recyclable thermoplastic substrate, onto which a conductive adhesive and inks are layered. When the device is not in use, the board is dipped in hot water(nearly boiling). After some time, the board comes apart and all the components can be harvested for recycling.
